Mr. Stephen Merritt, a man aged, perhaps about 60 years, residing just close to the boundary line, between here
and Houlton, left his house on Monday afternoon, to go a distant part of his farm, to burn some piles.
Not returning in due time search was made for him, when on Tuesday morning he was found lying in the corner of a
fence dead.
Appoplexy is supposed to have been the cause of death.
